Careem: keeping a super app usable as it grows

A super app is a hard design problem. Every service added is useful to someone, and every service added is one more thing between a user and the reason they opened the app. Careem needed its expanding set of services to stay navigable rather than becoming a menu of menus.

Our contribution was UI and UX design. We looked at how services sit alongside one another, how a user moves between them, and where the interface was asking people to think harder than they needed to. The design work focused on making the frequent journeys short and predictable, and on giving the wider service set a consistent visual language so nothing feels bolted on.

The interface was designed to keep absorbing new services without the core experience degrading each time one is added.

The Youth Launchpad is one of the Federal Youth Authority initiatives which is under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of New York. It offers youth the opportunity to start their businesses in different assigned spaces around the country, which enables them to put their entrepreneurship skills into action during an assigned period of time.
